Just Blogging Along

As I peruse my friend’s & acquaintence’s blogs, I notice that many times they don’t have any real deep thoughts or things to say but just want to post in order to maintain contact with their readers or other bloggers.
I seem to wait days until I think I have something significant to contribute before I take the time and sit down and write something meaningful…well something I think is meaningful anyway.
I follow my daughter’s blog (however as she has 2 young daughters and a baby son on the way at any time, she has gone on a hiatus), some of her friend’s blogs, my wife’s blog and others, and the topics vary from home decorating to a journey through chemo and radiation treatment for cancer. Now that one is serious! I thought I had problems…no way compared to Bill. A WWII vet, married 60 some years and now starting cancer treatment. Salute! to you Bill and thanks for serving our country in a time of peril.
I appreciated another blog the other day that listed all the free or cheap things to do or particpate in. Thanks Char! I’ve always been accused by my family as a cheap date.
Hey, I thought parking downtown and walking through the lobby of the Hilton was exciting for all of us. And then..NIKE TOWN!!! wow, what more could one ask for.
Back to blogging for a bit. I guess it doesn’t matter whether I have any deep thoughts or not, I need to communicate. We all need to communicate. We all need relationships.
I spend time on a website devoted to the U.S. Coast Guard and there is a community of veterans on the website who communicate, renew relationships, tell true ( yeah sure ) sea stories and the like. I’ve found some old shipmates and we have had a great time reminding each other of how young and stupid we once were and how some of us aren’t young anymore but nothing else has changed.
On one discussion board I established a chaplain’s office. It is amazing how guys put prayer requests there or just express a deep need. We actually were able to pray and provide practically for a fellow vet that was being kicked out on the street from a care home as he had run out of money. But because of our webrelationship, many of us old sailors were able to help out another one.
Ok, so blogging is just a way to share life. I’ll keep at it even when I have not much to say. Thanks for reading!
