It's time to think about the next missions minded generation!
Missions, Cross cultural ministry, outreach, global ministry, overseas evangelism…whatever the term is used, it boils down to something the evangelical church does very well or very poorly with a lot of stuff in between.
Most churches feel that they are doing their part in furthering the gospel via giving money to “Foreign Missions” and that’s where their involvement starts and stops. Not too many pay attention to the fact that at least 95% of every missions dollar goes to where the gospel is already preached or at least available.
The “10-40 Window” are aof the world has been talked about for some 30 years now but most Western believers are blissfully unaware of the area of the world that contains all the major religions, other than Christianity, the least reached or unreached people groups, poorest and most opporessed peoples and the list goes on.
I see that changing here and there. There are many churches who have taken on the task of the Great Commission and are doing it well. They are ministering in their Jerusalems, Judeas, Samarias and Ends of the Earth..with fairly balanced emphasis. This balanced emphasis though contains a definite strategy for getting a lot more resources to the pioneer work in the Ends of the Earth.
Back in Jesus’ day, the ends of the Earth were right here in the good old USA…fortunately the gospel spread and finally reached our shores and spread inward…Now it is time to repay the favor and work backwards until we reach the ends of the earth with the gospel
